REVIEW: Colbie Caillat – All of You - Universal Republic

A Disappointing Return for Sade
REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
June 16, 2010 – There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party. MORE

Steven Tyler and Finding Mrs. Right!
January 19, 2012 - Steven Tyler of Aerosmith never ceases to amaze me. He sat in on an Ellen DeGeneres show recently and proceeded to explain why he decided over the Christmas holidays to marry girlfriend Erin Brady.

"The first time I saw her, she worked for Clear Channel, so she was paying the band," Tyler explained. "One night she had this hair band on around her head. She looked really old-fashioned. So I took her back in the room and she tied me up with it, and I thought, 'I'm marrying this girl.' Exactly that way."

So here you have it an accountant like Brady who shows off her unsuspecting naughty side and Tyler gets a revelation that she’s the one for him! Steven has also been in rehab a hand full of times and really hopes that married life with Brady will help him stay on the right path and not sway off track.

Being sober now for two years Tyler adds, "I don't want to go back to that place. That place lost me, my kids, a marriage, a band. A lot of things.  And it's for real. That's how dangerous that is. So I take [my sobriety] seriously."

TMZ recently reported that Tyler's family are not too fond of Brady. Turns out the family doesn't think she's a very nice person. - By Shannon Edwards

Steven Tyler on New Album in the Making
January 14, 2011 - Aerosmith fans will be watching as Steven Tyler is about to get really comfortable in his seat for his second round of American Idol.  Ever since he joined the panel for this vocal talent show last season Tyler says sales of Aerosmith’s back catalog has rose 260 percent. We all know he has much to talk about when it comes to American Idol, but let’s get back to your roots Steven!

Tyler gave a little insight into his new album in the making at a news conference held by the Television Critics Association, “All of it’s been written, but I gotta lay lyrics on it and I haven’t had a lot of time,” he said. “But what I’ve listened to so far just knocked me out. I know a good song, I know what’s gonna get played on the radio, I’m not that pretentious to say I think we’ve got hits, but I think we’ve got something, and that’s all that matters.”

The band is working with producer Jack Douglas (who was behind the controls for many of their earlier hits) and this will be Aerosmith’s first album of brand new stuff since 2001. –By Shannon Edwards

Steven Tyler Gives Dr. Drew Pinsky Hell
May 9, 2011 – I don’t think it’s a stretch to say Dr. Drew Pinsky's “Celebrity Rehab” on Vh1 possibly exploits its guests. Sure it’s entertaining in a chasing-ambulance-kind-of-way but it’s naive to think any of these celebrities are getting any real help. That seems to be what Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler is saying. "We were in a Los Angeles area rehab at the same time former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler,” says Tyler who alleges that Adler was "told to fake his drug stupor for the 'Celebrity Rehab.”

In his new book, "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? He wrote "They wanted him to act out his own messed-up state when he entered rehab. It was ghoulish and unreal. They gave him 30 grand for the episode, he snorted it all, crashed his car, and he ended up in jail detox.”

"It didn't seem to me all that ethical using actual f---ed-up people like Steven Adler in a reality show, but who am I to say? Not to mention getting trashed celebrities to mime their own self-destructive nosedives which they then sensationalize on a melo-fing-dramatic reality show, which so traumatizes them they end up in worse shape than ever -- from the drugs they bought with the money from the show."

It’s easy to assume that almost all reality TV has to bring up the drama in everything to make things juicy. Doing this with addicts seems incredibly irresponsible – if true. – by John Beaudin

Aerosmith Set to Play American Idol Finale
May 5, 2011 – Steven Tyler has told Rolling Stones magazine that Aerosmith will actually play the finale of American Idol, “Oh yeah, we're playing the last show of the season,” says Tyler. “When I came on board, of course they were talking about, ‘Are you going to sing with the contestants?’ I said I'll do a song, sure, but it was always my intention, always, to get Aerosmith on the show. I mean, Joe's [Perry] done it. I'm ready for it. I would love to play with Aerosmith.”

Tyler also told Rolling Stones magazine about the new Aerosmith album, “Well, I sent Joe a bunch of songs and he sent me a bunch of licks. We've e-mailed back and forth with each other, All I need is a few good licks; that's the way "Walk This Way" was written, one of Joe Perry's licks, (sings) and I grabbed the ball and ran with it, and that's all it takes sometimes. We're getting together for my father's birthday -- he'll be 95 -- in May and I'm gonna have a band meeting at which time we're gonna settle a lot of the tumult that's been going on in the last year between lawyers and managers... As John Lennon said, time for a new broom to sweep things clean, dahling!”

He continues about his relationship with the band, “Sometimes other people try to keep us apart, so it's a little difficult,” continues Tyler. “I'm with different management. They're with different management, they've got their lawyers. I've got my lawyers. When we get together in a room, magic happens. Things get settled. It's just hard right now, but who knows what this summer will bring. We're in the middle of an album cycle. We may go out and do some shows, and we're already booked for November-December, South America and Japan. So who knows, man.”

Tyler has just released his new autobiography "Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?: A Rock 'n' Roll Memoir."

Steven Tyler Shows Aerosmith He’s the Boss
April 26, 2011 – In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine Steven Tyler says he took the job as judge on American Idol to demonstrate his freedom. "Did I take this job to show the band? F**k, yeah. Not to show them, but that I can't be held hostage anymore. I will be my own hostage. The band can't throw me out."

Tyler also had thoughts on drugs and stardom, "If you could just sprinkle 10 years of smoking pot, getting f****d up, getting laid, getting f****d, and 10 years of just life... which one of those people wouldn’t be a star?”

Fox exec Mike Darnell also said that Tyler had some completion from the Who’s Roger Daltrey as judge. "I actually saw Roger Daltrey,” says Darnell, “He came in and was the complete reverse of Steve, very formal, his hair was cut, he looked like a regular guy. He had lost that sort of rock & roll charm. But Steven was unbelievably charming." – by John Beaudin

Aerosmith Working on New Album Despite American Idol
January 23, 2011 – Aerosmith's Tom Hamilton just gave the world an update on the band's new album.

The guitarist claims that all members, it seems including Steven Tyler who is busy with American Idol, have some time right now to start working on their latest project. Here is what he told AeroForceOne

"We find ourselves with ten days of time where we can go out and work on some new Aerosmith material, and that's what we will be doing, commencing immediately, and pushing along the cause for coming up with a new album at some point in the near future." – by John Beaudin

Despite Facelift American Idol Loses 13% of Its Viewers
January 21, 2010 – American Idol is not the king it once was. Even though 26.1 million viewers watched Wednesday’s 10th season premiere it was still down 13% from last years opening show. Last night’s New Orleans episode was a bigger drop with the show losing 18% in the key demo 18-49.

With all the hoopla surrounding new judges Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler it was a disappointing debut. Some critics slammed the new judges for being “too nice,” something Simon Cowell was not. In fact many agree that Cowell was the real star that emerged from the show. He left after last year to concentrate on his own show to be launched on Fox later this year.

Will American Idol pick up steam? Don’t count on it, though not entirely like movies, TV shows do share that important big kick at the beginning as the most important factor. TV, however, can come from behind and let’s also remember that the show was overwhelmingly the number one show of the week. – by John Beaudin

Is Joe Perry Pissed at Steven Tyler?
January 10, 2010 – It looks like Joe Perry is not an American Idol fan! According to Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, who is set to begin judging Idol on January 19, Perry is suffering from “LSD - Lead Strummer Disorder”

This could be a “Chicken or Egg” story considering it seemed to originate with Perry being pissed with Tyler for joining American Idol and holding the band hostage for 7 months while the show ran it's course but now Tyler is pointing fingers at his lead guitarist. The singer says he wants to start work on their next album but Perry is no where to be found. He told Rolling Stone magazine, “As far as Joe goes, the guy’s got LSD – Lead Strummer Disorder. I think the rings of Saturn are composed entirely of unrecorded Joe Perry licks floating around in the ether.”

Tyler adds, “We’ve been brothers for ever and he’s just going through his thing. I don’t know where he is. But Joe, just come down to LA at the end of January – I’ve have enough downtime.”

Just one year ago Perry seemed to be inviting other singer into the fold after Tyler's American Idol deal became public. Spending your days with Jennifer Lopez will not ruin a musical career but it sure can make you smell pretty damn shitty.

It got so bad that last year  Perry was rumored to have asked Paul Rodger to sing lead vocals but then lawyers got involved and the Toxic Twins were a couple again. “We just have to get together and put the shit together, Says Tyler. “We’re all musicians – we’re like peripheral visionaries. We don’t don’t see what’s in front of us: we see off to the sides. We just need to get together for it to be a band. That’s all.” - by John Beaudin

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Has Never Seen American Idol
November 14, 2010 – Steven Tyler may be a judge on American Idol but he's never seen the show. The Aerosmith frontman just admitted that he's actually never seen the show. He told FOX40 Sacramento’s Bethany Crouch that now that he's in the fold and living and breathing the show it's not what he expected.

Tyler told the reporter he was “doing other wild things” for the last 40 years and never really watched much TV.

As for up-and-coming musicians, Tyler said that his thoughts with stardom always involved performing in clubs but added, "Now there are no clubs for people to perform in." - by John Beaudin

It’s a Good Thing He Fell on His Head! Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Falls Off Stage
August 8, 2009 – Looks like Steven Tyler Is ok after falling off the stage in South Dakota on Aug. 5th. In fact Aerosmith’s lead singer even joked to everyone within ear-shot while he was loaded in the helicopter on the way to the hospital. (Update Aug. 11/09 – Tyler broke his shoulder and the band is off the road for at least two months)

It all started when the sound system quit during “Love in an Elevator,” Tyler, always the class clown, decided to entertain the crowd with some wild dancing while everything got fixed up. After swaying and grinding on microphone stands a few too many times the poor guy fell off stage. Lance Yellow Robe was about 8 feet from the stage when Tyler fell off, he said, "You could kind of see it coming because he was dancing all over the stage.” According to many sources most fans were ok when guitarist Joe Perry told the crowd the concert would not go on. Yellow Robe said, "I could care less about the concert being cancelled. I hope he's OK.”

Tyler was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital and though he is not currently listed on patient list, it does not mean he is still not in doctor’s care. Celebrities never get checked in anywhere under their real or stage names. Most sources are saying the singer suffered head, neck and shoulder injuries but he is ok.

It’s also important to note that Tyler is 61 and according to all account has surpassed his nine lives with a vengeance. All members of Aerosmith have been in and out of rehab through the years and are still going strong. – by John Beaudin
