Alicia Keys Street Creds Are Real So, I decided to truly give Alicia a fair shake. Who was she really? Maybe she came upon that confidence honestly and it wasn’t all show. Turns out she grew up in the Hell Kitchen area of New York – no garden party for any young girl(of course that area is totally changed now). “Growing up in New York City, everybody wanted to be heard, so you had to do the work,” she told British newspaper The Guardian. “[I had to decide] if I was going to do the right thing or the wrong thing, take drugs or not take drugs, or end up getting into the wrong scenario. So many people I knew ended up in jail.” Learning to sing well and play piano like she does couldn’t have been easy in that environment but Keys says as an only child her mom, 'depended on me to be responsible" and that made her more mature. And that attitude of toughness? '[It's] a New York thing,' she said. 'Everyone is closed off. Even before I was famous, I wouldn't let boys walk me home. I wasn't gonna let people know where I live." – by John Beaudin

January 24, 2012 - It’s a done deal as Paul has announced (via his website) that he will be preforming at the 54th annual Grammy Awards in L.A. on Feb 12. This is also a very special occasion for him as he’s nominated this year for Best Historical Album for "Band On The Run." McCartney is definitely no stranger to the stage and if he pulls this one in it will be his 15th Grammy win in all.
January 23, 2012 - John Mayer has been out of the spotlight since he cancelled numerous gigs last year to undergo throat surgery. His decision to finally go under the knife was necessary after attempts to rest his voice did not help. In the meantime, John had to regroup and push back the release of his new album.
Jan 20, 2012 - Etta James, an iconic R&B American singer known for her classic songs “ At Last” and “Something’s Got A Hold Of Me” has died today at the age of 73.
January 19, 2012 - Steven Tyler of Aerosmith never ceases to amaze me. He sat in on an Ellen DeGeneres show recently and proceeded to explain why he decided over the Christmas holidays to marry girlfriend Erin Brady.

Sept, 2011 – On her third album Colbie Caillat has decided to strategically give us an uptempo summer-vibe. It still sounds like her smash debut “Coco” but this time it’s Colbie with caffeine and it’s positive and fun.
October 31, 2010 – This project started after Elton John just happened to mention his chief influences on “Spectacle,” a TV program hosted by Elvis Costello and produced by him and partner David Furnish.
July 11, 2011 – It took me a whole bunch of years to believe Alicia Keys. I thought everything about her was fake in the beginning. Her ‘tough girl’ stance, or was it confidence, just got on my nerves but slowly, I gotta admit, she won me over. In December of 2007 I was going through one of those “dark nights of the soul” and decided to take a late night drive to clear my head. Playing with the radio dial, by chance, I found one of those tunes that makes you stare at the radio in trance – “Sure Looks Good to Me” by Alicia Keys. Of course I had no idea it was Miss Keys and to make things worse the announcer, at the station, didn’t extro the damn tune. I was so impressed with the track I pulled a u-turn, tried to remember some of the lyrics for a Google search and looked forward to finding my new treasured artist. Obviously I was shocked to discover it was “Miss-look-at-me” Alicia Keys. When the dust settles though, I like these reality check moments, especially in music. We've all had them, you know when you're unconsciously singing along to Celine Dion after telling the world you can't stand her.
October 20, 2010 - Less than a week after the birth of her first child, Alicia Keys now has something else to celebrate as she was nominated this week for four Soul Train Awards.
