A Disappointing Return for Sade
REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
June 16, 2010 – There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party. MORE

Beyonce Called "Morally Reprehensible." In New Lawsuit
April 29, 2011 – It’s not a great time for Beyonce to be sued considering all the bad press she recently got concerning her performing for Moammar Gadhafi’s son (she has since donated her $1 million dollar salary). Now the diva is embroiled in a lawsuit that claims the singer “destroyed” a business, which resulted in 70 employees being laid off at Christmas. To make matters even worse one of the project's backers described her conduct as "morally reprehensible." The summons also claims that her demands were "so unscrupulous” via her then manager (her dad).

The singer was set to let the video game company, Gate Five, create a game around her but she pulled out of the project a few weeks before Christmas.

Gate Five founder Greg Easley says "In early December everything was still a go and then the week of Christmas, she said that's it, I don't want to hear from you guys, go away, resulting in 70 people losing their jobs. We'd much rather make a game than litigate. But we want to recover damages that Gate Five suffered." The suit estimates those damages at $100m USD. – by John Beaudin

Clint Eastwood Suffers Blow To The Head and Joins Forces with Beyonce
January 22, 2011 – What the hell is Clint Eastwood thinking? The famous actor and director is trying to land the rights to “A Star is Born" and have Beyonce star as the lead. Expect lots of close-ups of the long-legged wonder. Is this the best Clint could do...really?

Warner Bros. says that both are in negotiation to remake the movie that's been done three times. The first was in 1937 starring Janet Gaynor, Fredric March and Adolphe Menjou. In 1954 Judy Garland and James Mason redid the classic. The most recent, of course came in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

Warners says the deal has not been finalized yet. Maybe there is still time for Clint to return Jennifer Hudson's calls. - by John Beaudin

Beyonce Hints at 2 Year Hiatus, Yeah Right!
May 11, 2009 – She may be the most over-exposed singer in history but Beyonce just keeps giving the Energizer Bunny a run for his money.

Interestingly Beyonce recently told Marie Claire magazine that she may even take a break, "My priorities are slowly changing. So after this tour I might be tired and want to take two years off. I've worked hard enough to be able to do that. I'm in a very good place." Notice she didn’t actually say she was taking a break since that would entail being out of the spotlight.

Beyonce who claims to be 27 even though some reports say she’s in her early-to-mid 30’s is married to rapper Jay-Z says her aim is to spend more time with her husband, "We try to sync our calendars. I started working on my tour a year ago just to make sure that I had time at home.

Any other woman who has to go to work and pick up the kids and make dinner - that's way harder than what I have to do. At least I can say I'm taking two weeks off and really take two weeks off."  - John Beaudin

Beyonce Talks About her Big Blistered Feet and Etta James     Bookmark and Share
April 22, 2009 – Beyonce is kicking off her tour for the double platinum album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," on June 21 at Madison Square Garden. She told Associated Press that she worked her butt off on preparations, "I'm never gonna go on stage or do a video and not work until my feet are blistered, and until I'm basically, I can't walk any more,  I always give, and I do that because I know how lucky I am, to do my job."

Last year clips of Beyonce falling on stage surfaced, causing some embarrassment. “ It's very frustrating now`` she said, ``It's great because people can get a little sneak peak and say, "Oh, I wanna come to the show" or "I don't wanna go to that show" (laughs), and I'm fans of people so I go on there and check it out too. But you put so much of your heart and time into the wardrobe ... it's kind of unfortunate that people can see the show months before you get into their city, but that's life.``

As for her feud with Etta James on singing James signature `At Last` at President Obama`s Inauguration ball. She was asked if she knew that James was joking when throwing barbs at Beyonce, ``I played Etta James (in last year's "Cadillac Records"), so I did my research, I read her book. I was not at all surprised. That's Etta. She's hilarious.`` Yeah, right! – by John Beaudin

Where’s My Teeth - Thanks for Lip Synching at the Oscars Beyonce – That was Awesome! Bookmark and Share
Feb. 24, 2009 – Does anybody sing live anymore? I like Beyonce; she saves me money on primal scream therapy. When Etta James went all crazy-mars-bars on her a few weeks ago it almost made me take Beyonce’s side. The former Destiny’s Child member sang James’ famous signature song ‘At Last’ at President Obama’s inauguration, and after James’ crazy-train reaction Beyonce never really responded. Well, she did at the Oscar's on Sunday night. In her music lip-synched number with host Hugh Jackman, Beyonce slipped in ‘At Last.” I should say she slipped in a big “F*ck You Etta James!” Did Beyonce really have to be so petty? Sure, Beyonce played the Blues Icon in a movie but she’s no Etta James. I don’t know why but, to me, Beyonce, always comes off like she’s trying too hard. She’s like an insecure cheerleader dying to show you her happy fingers. So keep investing in those Beyonce albums, who knows, maybe one day they could be worth as much as Elvis’ movie collection. She’s so overexposed she gives gators gas.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ took away all the music categories at the Academy Awards last night. In all, the foreign film won 8 awards including ‘Best Picture.’

Congrats to A.R. Rahman who won his first two Oscars for best original score and best song for ‘Jai Ho.’ The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ composer said, "The essence of the film is about optimism. All of my life I've had a choice of hate and love, and I've chosen love-and I'm here." More

Etta James: “I can't stand Beyoncé…She going to get her ass whipped”    Bookmark and Share
Feb. 6, 2009 – Etta James is getting an acute attack of “Let’s Make John Beaudin’s Dreams Come True.” She’s going to kick Beyonce’s ass. That’s right James is falling on the sword for me.

After Beyonce covered her tune “At Last” at Obama's 1st Inauguration Ball on Jan. 20th Etta was fighting mad. The grand Miss James, 71, threatened Beyonce at a concert in Seattle. She told the crowd, "Your President, the one with the big ears ... he had that woman singing my song. She going to get her ass whipped."

She added, "The great Beyoncé ... I can't stand Beyoncé.” It was all recorded by Crown City Media.

Beyonce who has built a career on bringing us crappy music at breakneck speed did however have a right to sing the tune. James didn’t even write “At Last” and she certainly was not the first to record it. Glenn Miller had a hit with the tune in 1942 and then Nat King Cole had his turn in 1957. Then came Etta in 1961 and her version is known as the one that’s stood the test of time.

Interestingly, Beyonce did play James in the movie "Cadillac Records” and she didn’t threaten to kill her then. Beyonce has not made any statements yet.

Etta might sound a little too territorial on the tune but if the result is the end to Beyonce’s reign as Queen of flesh-eating R&B then we are all for it. – by John Beaudin   Update: Etta James says she was just joking and in no way was attacking Beyonce...right!
