Creed’s Mark Tremonti Says Scott Stapp Isn’t a Dork Anymore
May 5, 2009 – So Creed is getting back together. Sure, it’s old news by now but we’ve held out reporting on this hoping, like the Swine Flu, it would just go away or maybe lead singer Scott Stapp would get arrested again or make another porno. He hasn’t, and the band is set to start recording new music this month, the tour kicks off August 6th.

Creed actually had tons of success, selling 35 million records and their break-up might not have been of the Mount St. Helens kind but it wasn’t pretty either. Stapp also seemed to derail near the end of the group’s existence. It wasn’t uncommon for the singer to appear drunk during public appearances. As recently as 2007 he was arrested on a domestic violence rap, allegedly throwing a glass bottle of Orangina at his wife, former Miss New York USA 2004 Jaclyn Nesheiwat.  Let’s also remember his arrest for public intoxication in 2006, a few hours after marrying Nesheiwat, at an airport in L.A.  A few months before that Stapp was involved in a bar-room brawl with members of the band 311. The latter forced him to go to rehab according to Rolling Stones magazine. Let’s remember the porn-incident. In 1999 while touring with Kid Rock he made headlines with legal battles over an x-rated video made by the pair and some groupies. The tape has never surfaced.

Stapp’s relationship with his Creed band mates was almost as dramatic. Music Radar just talked to Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti about the reunion and his quotes about Stapp sound like a battered wife’s justification for taking back a drunken abusive ex-husband.

Though he says, "Being back in Creed is the last thing I would have expected," he also adds that working with Stapp in the past was tough, "It felt like he was never happy with anything we were doing. He could be quite negative, and that made everything a downer."

Things must have been bad since Tremonti seems to be heralding Stapp actually giving a compliment to his band mates, “From the second we started playing again, he was very complimentary towards what we were all doing musically. He had a lot of nice things to say about my guitar playing, and to hear him say to Brian that he thought he was a great bass player was very cool."
Tremonti goes on to say that "Falling apart was probably the best thing that could have happened to us.”

Creed’s reunion isn’t a planned one-off tour. They do hope to stay together. As for Alter Bridge, formed by the Creed boys with lead singer Myles Kennedy, "there's no question we're going to continue. Myles has given us his full support - as we did when it looked like he might sing with Led Zeppelin - and he knows that Alter Bridge is going to go on. In fact, right after we're done with the Creed tour, we're going right back in to cut a new Alter Bridge album." – by John Beaudin

Creed Reunion Just Around the Corner
Dec. 2, 2008 – It looks like Creed will actually get back together. At the very least the band led by famous singer Scott Stapp will tour in 2009. Creed sold 26.1 million albums in the U.S. alone but blew up like Mount St. Helens in 2004.

Stapp pursued a solo career and the other guys formed Alter Bridge with, what looks like, the future lead singer of Led Zeppelin, Myles Kennedy. They released two albums. Sales of both albums were near a million worldwide.

Though nothing is official yet, insiders say a deal is imminent. A spokesmen for their management company says, "There have been some talks, but it would be premature to comment on them at this time."

There could be an album in the works if the tour goes well. Billboard Boxscore says that between Nov. 1997 and Dec. 2002 Creed grossed more than $70.3 million from 220 shows. -By John Beaudin

Now Billboard Magazine Says Led Zeppelin Could Hire Myles Kennedy
Nov. 3, 2008 – Could this be more than a rumour now? Billboard Magazine is reporting Alter Bridge lead singer, Myles Kennedy “has rehearsed with Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham on several occasions.” Jones told the BBC last week that the band was going to tour but did not mention Kennedy.

Robert Plant, fresh off a tour with Alison Krauss says he has "no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years," and wished his band mates, "nothing but success with any future projects."

The Band Alter Bridge has recorded two albums and Kennedy is an amazing singer but would it be Led Zeppelin? Would they even call it Led Zeppelin? Alter Bridge is made up of former non-singing members of Creed. If they lose Kennedy, could the boys track down Creed singer Scott Stapp? Maybe Creed will return. – by John Beaudin
