Danny Gokey on Dancing with the Stars?
May 27, 2009 – It’s a common practice for reality stars to cross-pollinate from one show to another. After all, the Bachelor’s Melissa Rycroft took one step from that show to Dancing with the Stars and it worked out pretty good for her. She made it to the finals.

So if she can do it maybe Danny Gokey can as well?

Gokey is back in his hometown of Milwaukee and finally has a chance to breath, kind of. The 29 year old former church Music Director says he’d love to try out for Dancing with the Stars. Remember how Simon bugged the poor guy about his moves? Gokey said maybe he could redeem himself on the dance show.

On Tuesday Gokey performed at a free concert to raise awareness and money for his charity — Sophia's Heart Foundation. It’s named after his wife (pictured with Lambert) who died on July 9, 2008 in surgery, just a month before his Idol audition. The aim of the foundation is to donate musical instruments to children and youth who are unable to afford them. Sophia had a heart condition most of her life. The website is sophiasheart.org

The singer says if Dancing With the stars would help promote his charity he would certainly put on his dancing shoes. His first priority however is writing more tunes for his debut album. – by John Beaudin

Who Will Have Stronger Career Kris Allen, Adam Lambert or Danny Gokey?
May 26, 2009 – Up until the finale of this year’s American Idol I had a renewed faith that the show was a singing competition again but Adam Lambert, clearly the better singer did not win. Though his Goth looks threw me off at times and that “cat on your back” show-off wail reminded me of why Celine Dion and I do not mix. I was still always waiting to see what treatment he would give a song.

I enjoyed Danny Gokey, for similar reasons, he had an amazing voice and presence. The Milwaukee choir leader lost his wife a month before his Idol audition and he came locked and loaded with a heaping, helping of Al Green’s soul but he didn’t win either.

Kris Allen was the champ on last Wednesday’s season 8 finale. Hell, even he was surprised. It made for the biggest upset in the show’s history. More

A fond Goodbye to Danny Gokey on American Idol
May 14, 2009 – Even though a month ago most viewers believed the American Idol final would be between Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert but somehow things changed in the last 2 weeks. Gokey was eliminated last night leaving Kris Allen and Lambert in the final show. Danny was my fav. and his goodbye clip reminded us all that he had a heart of gold and after losing his wife became more than a survivor but a hero to many.

The top 3 American Idols got a chance to visit their home towns this week. Gokey had a huge homecoming in Milwaukee, Allen went home to Conway, AR and Lambert revisited his home territory in San Diego.

Jordan Sparks, Season 6 Idol winner in 2007, performed her new single “Battlefield” and seemed to be lip-synching but she looked like a million bucks.
Katy Perry sounded like a cat in a fanbelt, a little shaky in her guest appearance. She just seemed a little pitchy, Dawg. – by Kari Graham
