Mark David Chapman: Lennon's killer denied parole
John Lennon's Killer, Mark David Chapman Refused BailAug. 12, 2008- Everyone knows what 9/11 is, same goes for December 8, 1980 – the day John Lennon was killed. Like a tragic Kennedy moment most of us remember what we were doing when we heard of Lennon’s death.

Today the New York State Division of Parole denied the release of Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman. The statement said it was, "due to concern for the public safety and welfare." Even Yoko Ono, Lennon’s widow has said in the past that she would fear for her life if Chapman were released, she went on to say she though Chapman’s life would also be in danger.

Chapman, 53 gunned down Lennon outside of the couples Dakota apartment in New York on Dec. 8, 1980 just hours after their first meeting where Chapman received an autograph from Lennon.

He is serving a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. This is the fifth time he has been denied parole. The board turned him down in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006. He can apply again in 2010.

He has been at the maximum-security Attica Correctional Facility for the past 24 years where he has received conjugal visits with his wife, Gloria. The same woman he was with when he killed Lennon. That is a little creepy.

John Lennon's Killer gets No BailShortly after Lennon’s death in 1980, some fans promised Chapman’s quick demise if he would ever be released from prison but these days according to officials with the state Department of Correctional Services “he spends most of his time outside of his cell since he doesn’t pose a threat to anyone and no one goes after him.” Chapman does housekeeping in the prison and spends hours each day in the library.

Lennon was 40 when he died, Chapman was 25 at the time. He came to New York from Hawaii to Kill Lennon. He blamed his Christian beliefs for needing to kill the Beatle. He met the couple that night carrying a short-barrelled .38-calibre handgun and a copy of J.D. Salinger’s ‘Catcher in the Rye.’ The deeply disturbed Chapman believed the book’s protagonist, Holden Caulfield told him to Kill Lennon. Holden, a drifter in the book believed all “phonies” should be “wiped out.” Chapman looked at Lennon as that phoney.

In 2007 the critically panned film ‘Chapter 27’ chronicled the weekend before Lennon’s shooting through the eyes of Chapman. He was played by Jared Leto. – by John Beaudin

No Statement was released by Ono or either of the surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. – By John Beaudin

Paul and Ringo Want “Let it Be’ to Disappear
August 6, 2008 – If you’ve ever seen the Beatles film ‘Let it Be’ you’ll remember it depicts 4 guys who don’t really seem to like each other anymore. The film is the quintessential glimpse of a band on its last leg, maybe not musically but personally. The two surviving Beatles, also the two members actually first shown in the movie, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr would rather the film just go away. The pair wants the re-release of the 1970 film to be derailed.

An insider said, "There has been talk of 'Let It Be' finally being released but now there has been a change of heart. The Beatles are still a massive global brand and it's felt it won't be helped if the public sees the darker side of the story. Read more.
