January 24, 2011 – Elton John is not too happy with how gay rights is moving especially with California's gay marriage ban. The 63-year-old singer says, "In this country, we need more dialogue, We don't need any more stone throwing. We don't need any more vitriol. We need people to say, 'OK. I'm straight. You're gay. Despite Facelift American Idol Loses 13%+ of Its Viewers

Kelly Clarkson Says She Isn’t Changing
June 5, 2009 – Kelly Clarkson wants you to shut your trap about her extra pounds. She told MTV News, "I mean, I'm a person, so obviously it hurts you at some point on some level — but I think I've been this girl since I was on 'Idol.' I'm the same person," she said. "I ain't gonna change. It's apples and oranges. Some people like it, some people don't."

Clarkson says she’s too busy to read about all the gossip surrounding her, "I'm rarely on the Internet. I blog every once in a while 'cause my fans will yell at me if I don't, I check my e-mail on my phone ... I'm never really on the Internet."

She does love to read books even though everyone around her might be enjoying “In Touch” or “People.” She added that she can understand if fans don’t always enjoy her music, that’s to be expected  but the personal jabs are pointless since she was never that pin-up girl some American Idol fans thought she was, “I've never been that girl and I've been in the industry for seven years, so obviously everybody doesn't do it," she said. Kelly Clarkson Defends American Idol and Susan Boyle
May 27, 2009 – The very first American Idol is defending the mother camp. Kelly Clarkson doesn’t get all the hoo-hah about Idol contestants with previous professional experience. "I personally think if someone has been affiliated with the industry, who cares?” She told the Associated Press in Hong Kong this week. “That just means they've been working hard and trying to get in the door," Clarkson said. "Regardless, you're going to be an amateur talent. It's not like you've had a huge record deal and toured the world. It's not like they're going to be some huge threat."

The 27 year old is on a world wide promo tour to spread the word about her new album “All I Ever Wanted.”

Clarkson is still very much a fan of American Idol and catches the show whenever she can.

She also had some defending words about Susan Boyle. Clarkson said the Britain’s Got Talent sensation touched her heart from moment one. "I think it's awesome. I'm bawling whenever I hear her sing," adding Boyle's rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables" sounded beautiful.” – by John Beaudin

Kelly Clarkson Tops Billboard Charts and Alexis Grace Goes Home     Bookmark and Share
March 19, 2009 – Congrats to Kelly Clarkson for her second No. 1 album on Billboard. The first American Idol winner sold 255,000 copies of her new CD ‘All I Ever Wanted’ following the poor sales of her last album ‘My December.’ Though ‘December” started off stronger than her latest, selling 291,000, it fell off the charts after only 18 weeks. In the end it sold 788,000 in the U.S. Her ‘Breakaway’ album sold 6.1 million.

The buzz has been good on ‘All I Ever Wanted,’ her fourth CD, so it’s expected to out perform ‘December.’

Meanwhile American Idol lost another contestant last night but first this weeks coach Randy Travis performed as well as Brad Paisley and former Idol Carrie Underwood.

Alexis Grace was illiminated leaving the top ten, the group that will actually tour this summer. – by Kari Graham

American Idol Introduces New Rule and Kicks off Jorge and Jasmine
March 12, 2009 – Last nights American Idol started with Ryan Seacrest’s explanation of a new rule which gives judges power to save a contestant that we, the public, have kicked off. The fine print, though, says they can only do this once. I think I got it? His explanation was like algebra - backwards.

So would the judges kick two people off or save one of them or would they all bob for Michael Jackson’s nose in Simon’s trunk.

The two ‘Top Dogs’ on Tuesday were Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey, who both came across as pro’s which is really the way to judge the Idol contestants. When someone sings on the show, my first thought is, “does this person sound like a professional?” Most don’t, of course.

In the end,  16-year-old wild card finalist Jasmine Murray and crowd favourite Jorge Nuñez were going, ‘Home Sweet Home’ as Carrie Underwood’s new exit song stated. It’s a cover of Motley Crue's 1985 tune.

Though this was Michael Jackson week, the “King of Pop’ did not show up (or his nose) but Kanye West was in the house to rap ‘Heartless.’ The real highlight was the return of Kelly Clarkson. The first and, some say, the best of all the Idol winners appeared on stage still rather bashful and about 40 pounds heavier. I give her props for just being herself and not losing weight for the image but this morning everyone was asking, “Is she pregnant?” I did love her new tune, "My Life Would Suck Without You." – by John Beaudin

Kelly Clarkson Breaks Record On Billboard
Jan. 30, 2009 – Don’t write Kelly Clarkson off yet. The very first American Idol winner, and some say the best, is breaking records on Billboard.

Clarkson made history this week's with the largest leap to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the chart's 50-year history. The new single, "My Life Would Suck Without You," jumped from 97-1, selling 280,000 digital downloads in its first week.

After grasping for more creative control from Clive Davis in 2007 and her last record ‘My December’ some people predicted her demise, though prematurely, in the industry.

Kelly’s radio airplay is also on fire. The tune jumped from 58-38 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart and 27-18 on the Mainstream Top 40 list.
