A Disappointing Return for Sade
REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
June 16, 2010 – There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party. MORE

Gene Simmons Promises a hybrid of Destroyer and Revenge on New Album
May 4, 2010 – There is a cliché in the music industry where the artist sits across a microphone with a deer-in-front-of-a-Peterbilt stare saying the proverbial “I think this is my best album.’ It’s usually not true but Gene Simmons is giving it a shot. The Kiss frontman claims their new CD is a cross between two of their top albums “Destroyer” and “Revenge.”

The famous bass player says Kiss has already finished five new tunes. Here is what he said to Elliot in the Morning

“Yes (we’ve been in the studio), we’re halfway through it. We got five tracks done in two days so it may be the fastest record we’ve ever done and it really sounds terrific and Paul’s really doing a great job.

“All the songs are band written, co-written together with no outside writers. I could describe it for those out there who are Kiss fans as a cross between ‘Destroyer’ and ‘Revenge’ – very similar.

“So there’s no rapping, no mixing, none of that stuff. Straight ahead meat and potatoes, guitars drums and some throat-wrenching vocals.

“We don’t know yet (if it will be out before the end of the year) but what we do know is, in the middle of the recording process in June, we’re going to be going out and doing 15-shows in cities we promised we’d get to that most people don’t get to like Fort McMurray in Canada – really small out of the way places.

This will be the bands follow up to 2009’s “Sonic Boom.” – by John Beaudin

Gene Simmons Saved Ace Frehley’s Life..and Almost Gave Him Tongue
April 4, 2011 – Would you let that tongue anywhere near your tonsils? Maybe if you were dying. Former Kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley says that he and Gene Simmons locked mouths for a good cause in the seventies – to save his life.

During a visit to the Metal Show on VH1 Frehley explained how he almost drowned and how Simmons came to the rescue.

“I didn’t know Gene was a lifeguard,” Frehley said. “I actually drowned one day at a Holiday Inn. [laughs] I’m serious … this was in the ’70s. I actually drowned. Everyone else was [expletive] up, I was [expletive] up obviously, but everyone else was loaded, and I went under… the next thing you know, I’m drowning. Gene pulls me out of the pool and pumps the water out of me. Only later I found out that he was a certified lifeguard when he used to go to college.”  - by John Beaudin

Gene Simmons Accused of Sexual Assault and Sexual Battery
May 28, 2010 – How could a meeting between a make-up artist and Kiss’ Gene Simmons go so wrong? Well according to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday the guitarist wanted more from her than she was willing to give and it didn’t involve make-up.

Victoria Jackson has filed a lawsuit against the KISS singer alleging he spoke to her in "a lecherous and inappropriate manner,” telling her “I like you," when she was working at Los Angeles' ESPN Sports Center last November.

She also says that Simmons grabbed and hugged her inappropriately causing her to tell him, "Ouch. You are hurting me." In a statement Jackson says she was, "surprised by the overtly sexual attention".

It gets worse. Jackson also accused the 60 year old rocker of becoming more aggressive saying when she tried to back away "his spiked chest was jabbing her in the face,” and then "he pulled her even closer, tightly, pinning her arms and said, 'No not yet.' "

Jackson also says that he was, “humping her to the extent she could feel his groin grinding into her".

She is seeking over $500,000 in damages telling Radar Online that she has suffered humiliation, shame, embarrassment, anger, anxiety, loss of sleep and depression. Simmons is counter suing. – by John Beaudin

Kiss Special Set to Air on A&E this Fall
June 14 , 2009 – Get ready for more of Gene Simmons on A&E. The network that has given the famous Kiss bassist another persona is going deeper into the bands story this fall.

“Kissteria,” unlike Simmons’ “Family Jewels’ will actually have Paul Stanley in the mix, after all this one is a bonafide Kiss special. Here is how Kiss describe the show:

"Kissteria", the one-hour KISS tour special produced by the Greif Company (co-producers of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" show), will air on the A&E network sometime in the fall. A description of the program reads as follows: "For the first time in their 35-year career, rock icons KISS give you an all access pass to the 'Alive 35' Australian tour. When Paul [Stanley] and Gene [Simmons] decide to launch a spontaneous mini-tour with only one week's notice, the entire KISS family must scramble to make it a reality. Malfunctioning pyrotechnics, faulty flying righs and missing drummers are the least of their challenges." – by Kari Graham

Adam Lambert has Open Invitations from Kiss and Queen
May 28, 2009 – American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert seemed equally comfortable with both Kiss and Queen on the season finale last week. Turns out he has an open invitation to join up with both bands.

Brian May of Queen told Rolling Stone magazine, "(we) are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”

How does Lambert feel about the invite? He said, "That's a tough question because, honestly, how do you say no to being in Queen? I mean, that's unbelievable. But at the same time, I do have my own thing to do right now, and that's my goal. So if I could, I would try to do both. That's the honest question. I would try to do both. I would love to perform with them anytime they wanted me to but I also have my record to do. So, we'll see." Read More

Kiss’ Gene Simmons Selling Dr. Pepper?     Bookmark and Share
March 26, 2009 – Some people are surprised that Gene Simmons doesn’t pimp tampons. I just think he’s waiting for the right offer; after all, his new deal with Dr. Pepper probably includes a lifetime supply of the stuff, pop, that is. Yes, the demon in Kiss is set to sell Dr. Pepper. Following in the footsteps of other celebrities spokespeople including, basketball great Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Kelsey Grammer. The TV spot will also feature his son Nick.

Allison Methvin, director of marketing for Dr Pepper, said, "When initially describing Dr Pepper Cherry's taste, we felt it had just a kiss of cherry and was so smooth, we knew who our third doctor had to be - Dr. Love, Gene will get some help from Nick to introduce the amazingly smooth infusion of cherry flavor that makes Dr Pepper Cherry so smooth."The new “cherry” Dr. Pepper commercial will launch on March 30, 2009 on most major and cable networks. – by John Beaudin
