Kris Allen Stands by his “Adam Deserved to Win” Remark, Kind of
June 2 , 2009 – Kris Allen is coming off like the nicest kid to ever win American Idol. After being announced the champ last month he told Ryan Seacrest in front of millions of viewers, "It feels good, man, but Adam (Lambert) deserves this. I'm sorry."

"I still feel that way.” Allen told Billboard.com. “I feel that Adam deserved it just as much as I did. He was the most consistent person all year; he was seriously one of the most gifted performers I've ever met." He also said, "I think it could've gone either way, and America couldn't have gotten it wrong."

As for his own career Allen says he just wants to be respected. He told the magazine, "Whether that means selling albums or winning Grammys or just people liking my music, that's all I really want to do."

He also talked about that crappy turd-fest called “No Boundaries” co-written by Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, "That song is hard to sing,: he said, “I don't think me or Adam were happy with our performances at all. [But] the track actually sounds really good."

The whole experience on American Idol was “Weird” according to Allen. He wished his first single would be something he wrote, "But you can't complain."

Kris Allen Won American Idol By a Landslide
May 31, 2009 – Some sources are saying the final American Idol vote wasn’t even close. A top Fox insider told Access Hollywood that Allen won by a large margin.

When visiting the show Allen was stunned by the news and didn’t know how to respond. He said, “America’s gonna vote whichever way they want to… I don’t know. Whatever happened last night, was just a — it’s a total surprise for me so I don’t even know how to feel about that.”

Allen did have a few thoughts on Adam Lambert losing out to him, “There’s not a whole lot of people that approve of the whole guy-liner thing and the nail polish and all that, but for me, I love Adam and I think he’s one of the greatest people that I’ve met so far. For me, I’m just a regular guy and I think a lot of people just related to me.”

So what did Lambert whisper in his ear after he won? Allen said, “Seriously, Adam hugged me and goes, ‘You have to sing that song now.’ I was like ‘Ohhhh gosh!’” Kris said of the moment. “I was like ‘OK, just sing it!’ I thought it went OK.”

He told the show a major highlight was, “Playing with Keith Urban, it was really great,” Kris said. “Getting to meet him — he’s just a laid back guy, just a cool guy, laid back just like I am and he was like, ‘Lets go out there,’ and that’s what we did. And had a great time and getting to play with Brian May and sing with him and sing with Queen? Wow! That was priceless.”  - by Kari Graham

Was the American Idol Vote Flawed
May 28, 2009 – Kris Allen detractors just got some ammunition. According to the New York Times AT&T may have influenced the outcome of the final vote on American Idol.

The company providing free text-messaging services at parties organized by fans of Kris Allen. So did it help him win? It didn’t hurt.

Reps from AT&T, who are corporate sponsor of the show, reportedly taught Allen fans how to "power text" at the parties. Power texting could have sent 10 votes or more in the time of the regular one vote.

Officials are looking into whether it violated American Idol rules. More

Who Will Have Stronger Career Kris Allen, Adam Lambert or Danny Gokey?
May 26, 2009 – Up until the finale of this year’s American Idol I had a renewed faith that the show was a singing competition again but Adam Lambert, clearly the better singer did not win. Though his Goth looks threw me off at times and that “cat on your back” show-off wail reminded me of why Celine Dion and I do not mix. I was still always waiting to see what treatment he would give a song.

I enjoyed Danny Gokey, for similar reasons, he had an amazing voice and presence. The Milwaukee choir leader lost his wife a month before his Idol audition and he came locked and loaded with a heaping, helping of Al Green’s soul but he didn’t win either.

Kris Allen was the champ on last Wednesday’s season 8 finale. Hell, even he was surprised. It made for the biggest upset in the show’s history. More

Surprise! Kris Allen Wins American Idol
May 20, 2009 – What a big program! What a huge upset! American Idol ended its 8th season with the most star-packed show in its history, but the surprise was Kris Allen winning the top prize. What duh?

One hundred million votes were cast, a record for the show.

Guests included Rod Stewart, Kiss, Black Eyed Peas, Carlos Santana, Lionel Richie, Steve Martin, Keith Urban and even Bikini Girl made an appearance.

Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen appropriately performed “We are the Champions” with Allen and Adam Lambert, who most people believed would win. They did the tune just before the results were read. Equipped with a choir singing background the rendition was amazing.

Some music and TV critics talked about the possibility of an upset and they won this one.

Even though Lambert was clearly the best singer there is a possibility viewers preffered that underdog factor. Congratulations to Kriss. – by John Beaudin
