A Disappointing Return for Sade
REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
June 16, 2010 – There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party. MORE

Jimmy Page Wants to Play For You
May 22, 2011 – It’s weird to think that Jimmy Page has never had a website. He sure is living up to the old-rock-star image. Page told The Daily Star’s Kim Dawson at the Ivor Novello Awards that he wants to finally get the site finished first then the music will come. Page said, “At the moment, I’m constructing a website, because I’ve had the domain name (JimmyPage.com) but I’ve not had a website, so I’m constructing that. I think that will bring a few surprises to how things normally are. Once that’s done, then I’m going to start working on the new music.”

It important to note that Page’s site has been under construction for more than a year now. Fans can, however, join his mailing list at http://jimmypage.com/register.

Last year the legendary guitarist said, “I’m desperate to be playing, but it won’t be ‘til next year.” – by John Beaudin

Building on Front Cover of Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" Getting Facelift
February 11, 2011 – It's one of the most recognizable album covers of all time and now its getting a facelift – well, the building, not the album cover. The landmark structure in New York's East Village which served as the cover for one of Led Zeppelin's best albums, 1975's “Physical Graffiti,” is  undergoing a facelift. Interestingly the Rolling Stones also used this building as a backdrop for their 1981 “Waiting on a Friend” video.

It has also served as the home of a vintage boutique and soon will house, “Physical Graffi-tea” a new tea emporium that specializes in exotic teas. The store is set to open in March.

If you are in New York you can find the building at 96 St. Mark’s Place – It's closer than Abbey Road for most of us! - by John Beaudin

Alice Cooper Gives Robert Plant Hell About Led Zeppelin
February 1, 2011 – Alice Cooper wants to know what Robert Plant is thinking? Turns out he is not too happy with the former Led Zeppelin singer for not re-joining the band.

Cooper told the Examiner, “I go out on stage and say ‘turn it up’ and I never get tired of playing my songs. They are just standing there. What is so hard? Jimmy Page wants to do it. John Paul Jones wants to do it. And they got Bonham’s son (Jason), who is a killer drummer. All they need is Robert Plant. But what is Robert Plant out there doing? Playing folk music. What is he doing?”

The 63 year old doesn't seem to live in the same world as Plant who just wants to record and perform his folk oriented tunes.

Plant told Rolling Stone magazine - “The preparations (for the 2007 reunion show) were fraught and intense, but the last rehearsal was really, really good, for all that it represented and all that we were trying to capture. But I’ve gone so far somewhere else that I almost can’t relate to it. It’s a bit of a pain in the pisser to be honest. Who cares? I know people care, but think about it from my angle — soon, I’m going to need help crossing the street. There’s nothing worse than a bunch of jaded old farts, and that’s a fact. “People who have written their story – they’ve gotten to the point where nothing moves. I don’t deal in that, and I don’t deal with anybody who deals in that.” - by John Beaudin

The Day John Bonham Almost Kicked Sting's Ass
January 25, 2011 – Jason Bonham has interesting memories of his dad going backstage and meeting Sting. When the younger Bonham was 13 he convinced his dad to meet the Police. He told Spinner.com, the whole thing happened at a show promoting the band's second album “Reggatta de Blanc”

Bonham says, “[Dad] managed to get me backstage and he threatened to punch Sting,. It was hilarious. Dad stepped on his foot and he [Sting] was very cocky back then. He was the new young front man and had that punk kind of attitude. Dad was probably a dinosaur to him, even at 32. I remember [Sting] saying, ‘Hey man, don’t step on my blue suede shoes.’ My dad said, ‘I’ll step on your [expletive] head in a minute.’” – by John Beaudin

Robert Plant Reminds Us That Led Zeppelin is Dead
January 21, 2011 – A Led Zeppelin reunion sounds like a great idea until you talk to Robert Plant. The singer told Rolling Stones magazine that the famous O2 show in London in 2007 was amazing but “The preparations for it were fraught and intense, but the last rehearsal was really, really good, for all that it represented and all that we were trying to capture,” says Plant. “But I’ve gone so far somewhere else that I almost can’t relate to it ... It’s a bit of a pain in the [expletive] to be honest. Who cares? I know people care, but think about it from my angle – soon, I’m going to need help crossing the street.”

The singer also touched on why he and Alison Krauss didn't follow up their Grammy winning “Raising Sand, “The sound wasn’t there. Alison is the best. She’s one of my favorite people. We’ll come back to it.”

Plant is certainly not a Tony Blair fan. Check out what he said about the former British Prime Minister,
“The last time I lifted a pen was when Tony Blair became a Roman Catholic. We were supposedly going into the Gulf, determined to sort the world out in the name of tyranny. Then, once he had to leave the throne, he became a Roman Catholic and became a peace envoy in the Middle East.  That’s when I knew the world was completely upside down.”

He also does not want to look like a silly old man on stage, “There’s nothing worse than a bunch of jaded old farts, and that’s a fact. People who have written their story – they’ve gotten to the point where nothing moves. I don’t deal in that, and I don’t deal with anybody who deals in that.” - by John Beaudin

Jason Bonham Remembers Typical Mistakes Made With His Dad John Bonham
November 3, 2010 – Jason Bonham is a Led Zeppelin fan. That should be overly obvious considering his father was the band's infamous drummer and he was the drummer chosen to replace his father in the famous Zep one-off show a few years ago. The younger Bonham is also touring his “30th Anniversary Led Zeppelin Experience” across North American and heralding his father's musical genius.

Bonham told  John J. Moser of the Lehigh Valley Music blog, “The response has been beyond what I ever imagined it would be. Unreal. Everyone seems to understand the story I'm telling. We break up the show with a video and the footage of my day as a kid and the home movie parts."  More

Them Crooked Vultures Could Be Real-Deal Super-group thanks to Foo-Zeppelin Horsepower
August 13, 2009 – The term super-group has become so overused that you’re already rolling your eyes just reading this, right? A great super-group has to be greater than the sum of its parts. There is no choice in this matter. First off, it’s usually near impossible for someone to walk away from a legendary band and surpass that success. Expectations are usually too freakin’ high so it’s all in the chemistry. John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and Josh Homme (Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal and Queens of the Stone Age) each include a pedigree of having chops and being able to dance at the edge of any volcano. They’ve all done really well in Rock and Roll and lived the craziness. It’s interesting to note that these boys are also multi-instrumentalists. Jones is an amazing bass player but let’s remember he also gave keyboards (much to the chagrin of some die-hard fans) to the Zeppelin sound. Grohl is as good on drums as he is on guitar but they are both trumped by Homme. This guy can play everything, bass, drums keyboards and, like Grohl, can sing. With this super-group, yes I said it, everyone is talking about Grohl being back on the drum kit, like his old Nirvana days, but he can easily switch positions with Homme. This is no Zeppelin reunion but I’m excited. More

Led Zeppelin Says No to Guitar Hero and Rock Band
August 3, 2009 – I’m pissed. First Led Zeppelin said no to the reunion and now the’ve just nixed possible deals with both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I was so looking forward to a miniature John Bonham gong that went with leprecian/mini-me drum kit

Jimmy Page says the main reason is the bands music is too hard to replicate.

In his interview with Starpulse he said, "Obviously, there have been overtures made to Led Zeppelin, but if you start with the first track on the first album, Good Times Bad Times, and you think of the drum part that John Bonham did there, how many drummers in the world can actually play that, let alone dabble on a Christmas morning? There could be a lot of alcohol consumed over Christmas, and you still aren't going to get it."

The guitarist says instead of playing with plastic buy a real drum kit and a real guitar,  "You'll see if you've got a passion to want to play the instrument, and that is a good initiation.”: He says, “From my experience, once I got a guitar that was relatively user-friendly, but not super-duper easy, I really came on as a guitarist, at that point. It helped. It wasn't a super-expensive guitar either, but something needs to steer you a bit, if you're playing an instrument that is really hard." – by John Beaudin

Jack Bruce Received Death Threats After Dissing Led Zeppelin
July 28, 2009 – Jack Bruce has found out the hard way that it’s usually not a good idea to talk-crap on the biggest Rock band of all time. Last year, after the Classic Rock Awards he told a reporter that Zeppelin was “lame.” As a result he received death threats.

“Everybody talks about Led Zeppelin. They did one f’kin gig – one f’kin lame gig – while Cream did weeks of gigs.” He said, “Proper gigs, not just a lame gig like Zeppelin did, with all the vocal keys lowered and everything.

“F’k off, Zeppelin, you’re crap. You’ve always been crap and you’ll never be anything else. Cream is ten times the band Led Zeppelin is.”

Bruce said he was just fooling around, yeah right. Does it sound like he was fooling around?

This week Bruce added, “It was just a bit of fun and it was blown out of all proportion.

We always used to have a pop at other bands in the old days, and that was all it was.

Some Led Zeppelin fans were really angry. I had a few death threats – they’re not likely to find me though!”

I guess Bruce won’t be fooling around any more. – by John Beaudin

Alison Krauss Quiet on Second Duo Album with Robert Plant
July 24, 2009 – It’s hard to tell where Alison Krauss and Robert Plant are at on their next studio album. In typical fashion he isn’t talking but Krauss has given a few hints on their follow up to “Raising Sand” which won some Grammy’s and sold 2.5 million copies.

Again, it’s produced by T-Bone Burnett and according to Krauss, "Will be different, as if we hadn't made the first" she said, "I love being in the world of the unknown.”

Last January Krauss said that the project was in the pre-production phase.

Meanwhile Krauss is also recording an album with her band Union Station. – by John Rohn

Abba and Led Zeppelin to Replace Michael Jackson? Don’t Hold Your Breath
July 4, 2009 – Perez Hilton and the Sun in the UK are reporting that Abba and/or Led Zeppelin could be taking Michael Jackson’s place at the O2 arena this summer. Why didn’t they just promise us the Beatles?

According to both sources, the concert organizers AEG Live have offered both bands “crazy money” to reform for the gigs.

Remember Zeppelin did their one-off show at the O2 in 2007 but lead singer Robert Plant has gone on record several times saying that he had “moved on” and wasn’t interested in reforming his old band.

Chances of ABBA reforming are even harder to fathom. The band has not performed together in years and Benny Andersson of the group said it’s totally false. Speaking on the Jonathan Ross show which is shown on BBC One, he said, "No-one's asked us, and if they did we wouldn't say yes," More

Jimmy Page Slams Guitar Hero As a Waste of Time But My Son's Learning
June 23, 2009 – Some say Guitar Hero and Rock Band are a big waste of time for kids. Why spend all those hours on a pretend Guitar and Drum kit when you could learn on the real thing. Well, my 5 year old son Chase (pictured on both kits at left) is a real good little drummer and he learnt on both a real kit and that little piece of crap Rock Band set (ours has never worked well, it keeps disconnecting from the PS3 unit)

Jimmy Page says don’t waste your breath on the fake instruments. The former Led Zeppelin guitar God was speaking at a conference in Los Angeles on Friday to promote the forthcoming movie that features his career “It Might Get Loud” and said kids are learning nothing on Guitar Hero.

"You think of the drum part that John Bonham did on Led Zeppelin's first track on the first album, 'Good Times Bad Times'," Page said. "How many drummers in the world can play that part, let alone on Christmas morning?"

Don’t tell little Chase cause he’s learning equally on both. – By John Beaudin

Where's My Teeth?: Killers Blame Led Zeppelin and Nirvana for Lack of World Domination
May 1, 2009 – Brandon Flowers of the Killers figures his band would be much bigger if Led Zeppelin and Nirvana never existed. In fact he told NME.com he’d like to knock both bands “off their pedestals.” Yeah, good luck with that. Let’s see Brandon, Zeppelin had changed the face of Rock music forever and had broken up long before you were even born.

Flowers goes on to say he appreciates his groups huge success in the UK but feels a need to overcome listeners prejudices in his home country of the U.S.

"We’ve been embraced in Britain in a way that I’ll never understand, and it’s such a wonderful thing," he said. "But over here [in America], people are still so obsessed with Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, those sorts of bands, that nobody else is allowed [to grow]."

Flowers, who is the lead singer and chief songwriter of the Las Vegas band, said, "It’s not just us; there are a lot of great bands that have been held down or confined by the influence of these people that we’ve put up on pedestals. I’m tired of it, you know? I just want to knock them all off! And people don’t like that attitude. It’s almost like they don’t believe that it’s possible that anybody else can be the real deal.” More

More Proof That Zeppelin is Dead - Plant & Krauss Record Again
Feb. 15, 2009 – Led Zeppelin may not have plans for a reunion anytime soon but we are set to hear more from Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. The pair who just won 5 Grammy Awards for their album ‘Raising Sand’ have just entered the studio to record a follow up.

Ken Irwin of Rounder Records says, "Alison and Robert have been in the studio for about two weeks and although we haven't heard any of the music, we've been hearing good things from the musicians.”

T Bone Burnett who joined the pair on stage at the Grammy’s is back as musical director and producer. Word is he will again tour the pair possibly in 2010.

Irwin says, "We set our release dates when we get all the pieces in place and at this point, we don't have any yet.” Rumor has the album coming out late this year or early next.

Irwin also put to rest the rumor of a Robert Plant and Alison Krauss DVD from the first tour, "There are no plans for a DVD at this point.” – by Kari Graham

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Get 5 Grammy’s
February 9, 2009 – You could say all the Led Zeppelin reunion buzz didn’t hurt Robert Plant last night. The singer left the Grammy stage for the last time last night with 5 trophies in hand for his duo album with Alison Krauss. Their ‘Raising Sand’ album won for ‘Album,’ ‘Pop Collaboration with Vocals,’ ‘Country Collaboration,’ ‘Best Contemporary Folk/Americana album’ and their tune ‘Please Read the Letter’ won for ‘Best Record.’

Interestingly, Plant won two previous Grammy’s before the ceremony but never as a member of Zeppelin.

The evening started with a performance by U2 whick clearly seemed lip-synched but unlike her crappy pre-taped Super Bowl anthem Jennifer Hudson brought many fans to tears and appeared to sing live. The Oscar winning actress also won her first ever Grammy for ‘Best R&B Album.’ "I want to thank my family in heaven and those who are with me today," said Hudson, and accepting the award from Whitney Houston who seemed to have a learning disability. When taking the stage Houston’s voice sounded rough and the singer had problems putting her thoughts together.

Just before the show rumours flew like firecrackers that Chris Brown had assaulted girlfriend Rihanna. No one seemed to know for sure if Brown was in custody but by shows end most of the ugly rumours were confirmed with charges against the singer.

Performances by Paul McCartney with Foo Fighters Dave Grohl on drums scored high points while Justine Timberlake’s lack of musical prowess was mostly embarrassing while singing next to Al Green. The stinky factor was pale in comparison to Stevie Wonder sharing the stage with the Jonas Brothers – What was he thinking?

Rapper Lil Wayne won four Grammys, Duffy won a Grammy for ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ for ‘Rockferry.’

Coldplay won three Grammy’s while Joe Satriani was probably punching the wall. He is seeking legal action for plaigerism against the band. Coldplay’s ‘Viv La Vida’ was a huge hit last year.

English singer Adele saved us all from the Jonas Brothers being named ‘Best New Artist’ she graciously accepted the award. – by Kari Graham

Where’s My Teeth – The Grammys - All Live? My Ass!
February 15, 2009 – Just because someone tells you something doesn’t make it true. We’ve learned that, right? It’s especially true on TV. I remember Kelsey Grammer laughing at his own network, NBC, in 2004 as both his series, ‘Fraiser,’ and ‘Friends’ were winding down with big finales. The peacock network were proclaiming Friends as, "the best comedy ever," to which Grammer said, "I don't blame them for saying that, although we all know it's not true." Sure, ‘Friends’ was at the top alright, but only for people whose Chia pets talked back. Really, it’s all smoke and mirrors. TV has become a habitual liar. If Rob Blagojevich divorced the toaster and Casey Anthony was too busy rotting in hell, he could marry his TV – after all ‘like attracts like’ and you gotta watch what you stick in a toaster.

TV tried to make us believe that Beyonce actually washed her hair with L’oreal. Does she even touch her own hair? A couple of weeks ago I thought Jennifer Hudson, the nice comeback kid that she is was telling the truth. She, in a side-winding way, lied about singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Maybe she justified it since everyone else lied as well. More
