John Paul Jones Hints at Led Zeppelin Reunion without Robert Plant
Oct. 28, 2008 – Hopes that Robert Plant will re-join Led Zeppelin are fading fast. Bassist, John Paul Jones said this weekend, that he, Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham are all “itching” to hit the road together after the reunion show in London in Dec. 2007. He said that it will not be with Robert Plant but rather a new singer but did not mention who that would be, “As soon as we know who it is, we’ll let you know who it is,” he said. Robert plant has said that he could be interested in touring again but not for a few years. He just finished up a tour with Alison Krauss. If that’s truly the case, the big question is, why can’t they freakin’ wait? Go on the road with a replacement singer? Then have Plant rejoin the band? Wouldn’t that be anti-climatic, would there be bad blood by then and what if the new singer is a hit? Ok, the latter was a joke, consider it a pinch. John Paul, Jimmy and Jason may just be coaxing Plant out of his rabbit hole but isn’t there a better way of doing this. They sound as subtle as Nancy Grace. The loudest of rumours has circled around American singer Myles Kennedy as replacement. Jones did offer up some encouraging news however, hinting that the London O2 arena reunion could eventually be available on DVD. – by John Beaudin

Myles Kennedy to Replace Robert Plant in Led Zeppelin
Oct. 15, 2008 - The more we read about the Led Zeppelin reunion the more it sounds like the ending of ‘The Crying Game.’ You think you hit the jackpot only to get dicked around in the end. Reports out of England say that Myles Kennedy will be the new lead singer of Led Zeppelin. The Sun in the UK reports that Kennedy has been rehearsing with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham for a tour next year. Though Robert Plant has nixed any hopes of a full scale reunion the newspaper says his band mates still hope that he will have a change of heart.
Then comes, of all people, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, who told Canada’s MuchMoreMusic that Kennedy was the official replacement. Snider shares a manager with Plant and says that the legendary Zeppelin singer was told, 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go, here's a gazillion dollars on the table,'" Snider explained. "'If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid. And he can sing the shit out of Zeppelin.'"
Kennedy is an American who sang with the unknown rock group Alter Bridge. On Wikipedia Kennedy is touted as having a four-octave vocal range and can hold a note for 22 seconds.
The Kennedy rumor could be true, Kevin "The Caveman" Shirley, who worked with Zeppelin, commented on his blog,
"There is a singer from a Florida heavy metal band who is pretty close to becoming My-Fave-Band-Ever's singer. As the old one has a separate happening career. I have to admit to shock, shock, shock."
Recently Jack White was rumored to be the new lead singer for the band, but then this quote allegedly came from him, "I do not believe you can have a band called Led Zeppelin, singing Zeppelin songs, without Plant," White allegedly told a source. Take it away Boy George, “I know all there is to know about the crying game
Ive had my share of the crying game.” – by John Beaudin |

Robert Plant Says No To Led Zeppelin Reunion
Sept. 30, 2008 – Let’s start by saying, “Come On!” Remember the time when I told you Led Zeppelin was getting back together? That was awesome! Now call me a liar because it may not happen at all. Yesterday Robert Plant basically said “no” to reunion plans. In fact the lead singer of the super group added he never said yes in the first place. A Plant spokesperson said, "After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years," the statement said. "Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets."
Plant will wind down his tour with Alison Krauss in Saratoga, California on Sunday. He says it’s time for everyone to get on with their own plans.
"It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward," he said. "I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects."
Does this mean Led Zeppelin will now look for another lead singer as earlier reported? Please, for the love of God, don’t let that happen. We reported on Friday that the trio were possibly looking for a replacement, believed to be an American. Some camps say that Plant was actually so pissed off at his presumptuous band mates that he called the whole thing off.
Page has worked with other singers including David Coverdale of Whitesnake and Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes to name a few.
Ever since that so called one-off show in London in Dec. 2007 the rumours have gone wild on the band touring and possibly recording again.
The reunion was worth at least 200 Million to Plant but let’s remember he’s already worth at least 150 Million.
A band source said: "Despite the enormous offer, the decision did not come down to money. They always said they would do the one-off show and then see how they felt." Let’s hope they can work things out. – by John Beaudin

Robert Plant to Re-Join Led Zeppelin – But, Is It official?
Sept. 26, 2008 – There’s no secret that Robert Plant has been dragging his feet to regroup Led Zeppelin. So much so, that the three remaining members Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham were rumoured to be looking for a replacement lead singer, an American.
A source said: "The rest of the band had all but given up on Robert joining them, but they were determined to go ahead and had started to seriously explore other avenues.” Do you really think they were serious? Led Zeppelin without Plant? Maybe the ploy worked though, "When Robert realised the band were serious about doing it without him, it made him think long and hard."
Here’s how it may go down. The latest word is Zeppelin will be playing next summer, possibly May. Britain's The Sun newspaper quoted a source saying, "The band were over the moon when he told them the news. They are now forging ahead with the tour plans and can't wait to get on the road."
Interestingly, Plant said yes to the reunion almost 28 years to the day after the band disbanded. Which was three months after original drummer John Bonham died.
Plant just wrapped up a successful tour with Alison Krauss and was looking at the possibility of recording another album with the Bluegrass performer. That’s going to have to wait.
So, as predicted by almost every human being on the planet, Led Zeppelin’s one-off show at London’s O2 Arena in December 2007 was just a new start and rightly so, Though, is it official? Not really, not yet. It just looks like it's all heading in the right direction..
With the sad news of the death of Pink Floyd’s Rick Wright 2 weeks ago old rockers are being reminded that most of the big reunions just won’t happen because some of our Gods are dying. Luckily we have Zeppelin, John Bonham may be dead but no one will blink and miss this reunion. The greatest Rock band of all time are finally back! – by John Beaudin

Zeppelin to Record New CD if Robert Plant Can find His Muse
Aug. 27, 2008 – This could be the greatest reunion in the history of music. The window closed long ago for the Fab-Four so it’s now up to Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones to grab a little focus, and time to get Led Zeppelin to coordinate blackberries. Page and Jones have been busy-bees at least. According to Zep drummer Jason Bonham (John’s son) new music has always been in the cards for the band and that Page and Jones are actually writing some new Zeppelin tunes. He told Detroit’s 94.7 WCSX that since the one-off show in London last December, the aim was clear – write and record a new Zeppelin album. "I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying [out] some new material," he said. "I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material.” However, Plant has not been involved in the sessions yet, what is he washing his hair? Nope, the singer has five more shows to wrap up with current tour mate Alison Krauss. Bonham says he’s on call anytime for the band, "When I get there [in the studio] I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It's my life. It's what I've dreamed about doing.” Bonham who’s currently touring with Foreigner says he’s planning on leaving on September 1. He didn’t directly say that he was freeing himself up for Zeppelin but if it quacks like a duck.
Page was on stage at the closing ceremonies at the Beijing Olympics on Sunday where he performed ‘Whole Lotta Love’ with Leona Lewis. – by John Beaudin

At Last News of Zeppelin Shows
June 11, 2008 – It finally happened! Jimmy Page has finally announced that there will be more Zeppelin shows. That’s if the 3 remaining members don’t die from some old-man disease first. The legendary guitarist was hangin’ backstage after the Foo Fighters gig at Wembley and said the band is ready to do more shows.
Page said a full tour would not be possible before 2009 since singer Robert Plant was busy touring with Alison Krauss.
The closest thing to Zeppelin in 2008 is Plant performing 'When the Levee Breaks', 'Black Dog', and 'The Battle of Evermore' with Krauss on tour.

When is This Freakin’ Led Zeppelin Reunion Tour Going to Happen?
June 2, 2008 – The closest I got to the big Zeppelin reunion gig in England was my friend Kari bringing back an Autographed Zep 4 LP. She was backstage and met Jimmy, John, Robert and Jason. It’s already my prized possession of Rock, n Roll memorabilia but as much as I love staring at it I’d rather see the boys in concert. Last week more rumours circulated that Zeppelin would perform at the Rogers Centre in Toronto in August. Actually, the Globe and Mail said talks were on to make the gig happen but now it’s all been shot down as an urban legend Chicken Noodle Soup. So the big boys, Billboard magazine got involved and in the end said they were, "fairly confident there's nothing to it." Hey, did I mention my Zep 4 album? – by John Beaudin
