Them Crooked Vultures Could Be Real-Deal Super-group thanks to Foo-Zeppelin Horsepower
August 13, 2009 – The term super-group has become so overused that you’re already rolling your eyes just reading this, right? A great super-group has to be greater than the sum of its parts. There is no choice in this matter. First off, it’s usually near impossible for someone to walk away from a legendary band and surpass that success. Expectations are usually too freakin’ high so it’s all in the chemistry.

John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and Josh Homme (Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal and Queens of the Stone Age) each include a pedigree of having chops and being able to dance at the edge of any volcano. They’ve all done really well in Rock and Roll and lived the craziness. It’s interesting to note that these boys are also multi-instrumentalists. Jones is an amazing bass player but let’s remember he also gave keyboards (much to the chagrin of some die-hard fans) to the Zeppelin sound. Grohl is as good on drums as he is on guitar but they are both trumped by Homme. This guy can play everything, bass, drums keyboards and, like Grohl, can sing. With this super-group, yes I said it, everyone is talking about Grohl being back on the drum kit, like his old Nirvana days, but he can easily switch positions with Homme. This is no Zeppelin reunion but I’m excited. More

Where's My Teeth?: Killers Blame Led Zeppelin and Nirvana for Lack of World Domination
May 1, 2009 – Brandon Flowers of the Killers figures his band would be much bigger if Led Zeppelin and Nirvana never existed. In fact he told NME.com he’d like to knock both bands “off their pedestals.” Yeah, good luck with that. Let’s see Brandon, Zeppelin had changed the face of Rock music forever and had broken up long before you were even born.

Flowers goes on to say he appreciates his groups huge success in the UK but feels a need to overcome listeners prejudices in his home country of the U.S.

"We’ve been embraced in Britain in a way that I’ll never understand, and it’s such a wonderful thing," he said. "But over here [in America], people are still so obsessed with Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, those sorts of bands, that nobody else is allowed [to grow]."

Flowers, who is the lead singer and chief songwriter of the Las Vegas band, said, "It’s not just us; there are a lot of great bands that have been held down or confined by the influence of these people that we’ve put up on pedestals. I’m tired of it, you know? I just want to knock them all off! And people don’t like that attitude. It’s almost like they don’t believe that it’s possible that anybody else can be the real deal.” More

Courtney Love Fighting Mad at Kurt Cobain’s "Looters"
April 9. 2009 – I wonder what happens to someone after they steal from the dead. Courtney Love has some ideas, she says steal from Kurt Cobain and your future will be as bright as Bernie Madoff’s last bowel movement. Oh right, and she will sue you. Love is in some financial trouble and she’s coming out swinging.

In the next few weeks the singer plans a huge lawsuit according to her lawyer, on her behalf, daughter Frances Bean Cobain and Kurt’s family, against unspecified parties that allegedly "looted" millions from Cobain's estate.

Attorney, Rhonda Holmes told E-News, "Courtney's main interest is ensuring that her daughter gets the assets back that were stolen, Courtney is pursuing her rights on the criminal end against the people who stole, and her daughter and Kurt's estate are focusing on the financial aspect."

Though no names have been given out yet the attorney said it would include, "former assistants, former managers, CPAs, lawyers and a couple of banks." Holmes said, "We are suing for fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and RICO violations and for mortgage fraud.”

How much money are we talking about? Oh, about $30 million in cash and they may have scammed another $500 million through various fraudulent real-estate mortgage ventures.

Holmes adds, "They would sell a piece of property to a related entity, to someone they know, and they would keep selling to make a profit, There are now Kurts and Courtneys and Franceses spelled different ways that allegedly own properties all over the country that were bought by Kurt's assets. There was so much money at stake, and I think they thought they saw someone who was not paying attention [meaning Love] and took advantage of it." Attorneys are also saying this could be the top of the iceberg. – by John Beaudin
