A Disappointing Return for Sade
REVIEW - Sade – Soldier of Love
June 16, 2010 – There’s always been an understated value to everything that Sade does and sameness to her entire repertoire. That quality of old wine has served the singer/band well… until now. Unlike Norah Jones who has, at least, tried to mix-up-the-pot, Sade really needs to stop wearing the same dress to every party. MORE

Dr. Phil Gives Rihanna a Reality Check on the View
March 5, 2009 – Yesterday on The View Dr. Phil McGraw touched on the hot topics including Octo-Mom and the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. After telling the ladies that the mother of 8 newborns was not living in reality he switched to the disturbing topic of spousal abuse. “I've yet to hear a theory under which a man should put his hands on a woman in a violent way,” said the doctor.

“Assuming that this was a domestic violence situation and he did attack her, I tell people that there are certain things in a relationship that are drop dead deal breakers and that’s one of them. If you have a mate and he is hitting or punching you then you need to get away and protect yourself.”

Dr. Phil said he hadn’t met Rihanna but had spent a little time with Chris Brown before the infamous Grammy night situation.

He added, “You don’t get back with someone who has done that until an independent professional has evaluated them and said that they’ve done what they need to do to resolve their anger issues or lack of impulse control or craziness."

Co-host Sherri Shepherd asked the Doctor what the message would be for parents telling their kids about domestic abuse. “This is a teachable moment,” said McGraw, “so many people look up to her...he seems like a delightful young man. Parents need to tell their kids that Rihanna is making a mistake here. So many parents don’t know that their teens are in abusive relationships. - by John Beaudin

Rihanna and Chris Brown Back Together?     Bookmark and Share
March 2, 2009 – File this under “Men Do Crap Cause They Can.” People magazine is reporting that Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together! In fact TMZ has the pictures to prove it. According to People the pair were vacationing together at an estate owned by Sean "Diddy" Combs. Brown allegedly beat up his girlfriend three weeks ago, just before the Grammy show.

A source close to the couple told People, "They're together again. They care for each other.” Yep, nothing says I love you like a kick in the teeth!

This source also said, "While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves.”

Realistically this kind of abusive dance takes place everyday, everywhere so even though the reconciliation seems Insane, it is possible. Brown is 19 and Rihanna just turned 21 – they’re kids. Isn’t there a possibility the pair are really emotionally stupid?

Rihanna Talks About Chris Brown Situation     Bookmark and Share
Feb. 24, 2009 – Rihanna is finally talking about not talking. Her camp released the following statement:

"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown,"

"She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."

This is the first time that Rihanna, via her publicist, has said anything since Chris Brown’s alleged assault on the singer on Feb. 8th.

Rihanna spent time with her family and some friends in Barbados but was filmed in L.A. last week.

After seeing the leaked Rihanna TMZ picture last week rapper Xzibit compared Brown to Tina Turner's ex-husband, Ike Turner.

Ike Turner was accused of violent spousal abuse against Tina. On Twitter Xzibit said: "Damn Chris Brown. The photo of Rihanna is making you look like the new Ike Turner. All jokes aside, dude is about to have BIG problems. Everybody is going off on Chris Brown now, before we get all the facts. there are 3 sides to EVERY story, lets just wait for the TRUTH." I am in no way condoning what the media says he did, if it was my sis, I would want answers as well. Just hate 'WITCH HUNTS.'" – by Kari Graham

LAPD Opens Investigation on Leaked Rihanna Photo
Feb. 20, 2009 – The Rihanna beating just got closer to reality with TMZ posting a picture late last night of the singer showing her battered face. Now Los Angeles Police Department wants to know how the picture was leaked. The bloody and bruised face of the R&B star was supposed to remain private.

The picture is disturbing and shows the Rihanna with her eyes closed with a fat lip and bruising on her forehead.

The LAPD issued the following statement:

"The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence, The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint. A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination."

Singer Chris Brown was arrested on Feb. 8, on Grammy night, on suspicion of making criminal threats. The two had been dating for some time.

The Police have said that Rihanna was cooperating with investigators in building a domestic violence case against Brown.

Some rumors from E! have speculated the Rihanna and Brown were talking and the two could possible be getting back together though that seems highly unlikely.

Conflicting Reports on the Chris Brown/Rihanna Case
Feb. 20, 2009 - In one corner we hear that Chris Brown and Rihanna are talking and getting back together, in the other, Brown is being warned that his felony charges could get more serious. Though the latter seems more realistic. If he did hit her and they reconcile then it’s safe to say both of their careers may be in trouble.

E! News is reporting that Brown threatened to kill Rihanna and then strangling her until she passed out. There have been whispers of an "attempted murder" charge but with only two witnesses to the event, Brown and Rihanna, that’s unlikely.

Let’s hope this doesn’t not turn out to be as unhealthy and drawn out as Whitney and Bobby. – by Chas Dordie

Chris Brown Hires Big-Gun Crisis Management Expert
Feb. 18, 2009 – If you were hired to fix the Chris Brown media fiasco, what would you do? Some say if you hit a woman you’re screwed! But we don’t really know what happened. Brown has hired Alan Nierob, a top crisis management expert to help stop what seems like the end of the world for the singer.

Nierob has helped Mel Gibson, remember that little anti-Semitic speech? Many predicted that Gibson was dead but he’s slowly managed to be forgiven, at least, by some.

It was Nierob who told Gibson to tell the truth about his rant in his famous interview with Diane Sawyer.

If there is hope for Brown, and really, I can’t see it, he needs to be honest. If he hit girlfriend Rihanna on Grammy night, he needs to come clean. The problem is everything he does musically from here on end has to be 10 times better than anything he’s done so far to counter-act with the huge majority of folks who could turn their back on him for life. – by John Beaudin

Is Chris Brown the Biggest Idiot in the World?
Feb. 17, 2009 – I’m with Doctor Phil on this one, “No Matter what, you never, ever hit a woman.” This Chris Brown fiasco is just beginning. Did he really beat up girlfriend Rihanna? Here is Brown’s first official statement:

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."

This is “the” hot topic everywhere and even Gayle King, Oprah's girlfriend best friend had an opinion, saying, "Right now I can't think of anything that makes me support anything that Chris Brown is saying at this time. And my heart just aches for Rihanna."

Actress Gabrielle Union said, "I know them both. Unfortunately, no one knows all the facts yet… what I think is great about this unfortunate situation is it can get us talking about violence… violence is never the answer. It's good to get that dialogue started. I wish this wasn't the catalyst for that… it's never good to use violence as a means to an end."

And Akon said, “Keep doing what you're doing baby. Keep things positive!" He added, "She's a strong woman. I think she'll get through it."

Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty said, “I am really upset about the whole incident. They had me all over the TV saying that I was living in a car and was homeless. I have a home in Warrens. I don't live in this car. Rihanna has done really well as a person from a small island and I know that she is up against the heavyweights, so they will do anything to discredit her." – by Kari Graham
