Elton John Frustrated with Slow Movement in Gay Rights
January 24, 2011 – Elton John is not too happy with how gay rights is moving especially with California's gay marriage ban. The 63-year-old singer says, "In this country, we need more dialogue, We don't need any more stone throwing. We don't need any more vitriol. We need people to say, 'OK. I'm straight. You're gay. Let's get along. I'm Republican. You're Democratic. Let's work together.' I'm sick and tired of people being hateful to each other in this country." MORE

Despite Facelift American Idol Loses 13%+ of Its Viewers

The singer told Rolling Stones magazine that the famous O2 show in London in 2007 was amazing but “The preparations for it were fraught and intense, but the last rehearsal was really, really good, for all that it represented and all that we were trying to capture,” says Plant. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame To Celebrate 25th Anniversary with Bruce Springsteen, U2, Simon and Garfunkle and More
July 23, 2009 – The body of work that is Rock and Roll encompasses so many actual genres. The Blues, Soul, Pop, Rock, Metal and the list goes on. Appropriately the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will feature a melting pot of everything under the sun including Bruce Springsteen, U2, Simon & Garfunkle, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Metallica.

The foundation will celebrate with two shows (October 29 and 30) at New York City's Madison Square Garden. This is one night when Metal will find a nice home with soul and it’ll all make sense. The Hall promises some interesting pairings including Crosby, Stills Nash & Friends and Simon and Garfunkle on stage with some surprising unlikely colleagues.

All proceeds from the shows will help raise money for a permanent endowment for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Museum. More

Stevie Wonder to Re-Release 'For Once in My Life'
Nov. 27, 2008 – Have you ever sat down with headphones and really listened to Stevie Wonder? If you pay attention, you might have a religious experience. His sense of melody and the layers that intrinsically fit together in his production is aw-inspiring.

Motown has just announced they will re-release one of his best hits 'For Once In My Life,’ 40 years to the week that it was first in stores. It will be out on digital formats and 7" single through the Tamla Motown label next month

During the presidential campaign Wonder was called "musical hero", by US President-elect Barack Obama, a “true genius in modern music.”

Wonder has 22 Grammy awards and an Academy Award. He has sold 70 million records and has 25 #1 hits. – by John Beaudin

Steve Wonder awarded Gershwin Prize
Sept. 23, 2008 – Congratulations to Stevie Wonder. The music legend is set to become the second recipient of the Gershwin Prize, an award handed out by the U.S. Library of Congress.

The honour is awarded to select musicians who have contributed a huge body of work in popular music and whose impact has been monumental in the genre. Paul Simon was awarded the first prize last year.

Wonder says, "It's an immense privilege to join such a remarkable roster of musicians and composers, I am touched to receive this honor, and look forward to creating music for the celebration."

The awards ceremony is set for Feb. 23, 2009. Wonder says he plans on writing a new piece of music for the library of Congress for the event. - By John Beaudin

Stevie Wonder Supporting Barack Obama
June 27, 2008 - In a recent concert in New York Stevie Wonder confirmed his support to the Democrats' Presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama. It is no secret that both men admire each other. Obama has often claimed that the 26 Grammy Award winner was one of his favourite artists. He declared recently to the magazine Rolling Stone, “If I had one musical hero, it would have to be Stevie Wonder. When I was at that point where you start getting involved in music, Stevie had that run with Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Innervisions, and then Songs In The Key Of Life. Those are as brilliant a set of five albums as we've ever seen." Obama has even adopted Stevie Wonder's 1970 hit "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" as his leading campaign song.

Great news for all Wonder's European fans, as the star will be back touring in Europe after 10 years for a series of 12 concerts from September 8th to September 28th. - By Akbar Nour

Steve Wonder, Ready for Europe
June 17, 2008 – When Stevie Wonder comes to your town it’s always a big deal. Though the legendary singer has had a lower profile in the last few years including a more relaxed touring and recording schedule, we say he’s earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants. Wonder just announced that he’s heading to Europe for 12 dates that kicks off September 8th at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England and ends up September 28th at the Paris Bercy in Paris, France. Wonder says, "I am looking forward to performing in these venues in Europe," he adds, "We are going to have some wonderful nights of intimate excitement." Stevie Wonder Launches first Full Tour in Ten Years
August 3, 2007 - It's a big deal whenever Stevie Wonder does anything but especially so this summer as the singer kicks off his "A Wonder Summer's Night" tour. The Motown legend will start the treck in San Diego on 23 August, with the final concert in Boston on 20 September. The 57 year old said, "I thought what would be really wonderful would be to go out and perform throughout this country as we have a need for healing," The 13 date tour is his first in over a decade. Wonder treated hundreds of office workers on their lunch break at a public park in Century City, Los Angeles yesterday with a mini concert after he made his tour announcement. He played some of his biggest hits including hits like "Higher Ground" and "My Cherie Amour." He told the crowd he was, "blessed with being able to sing and to write, to play - what better way can I think of than to go out and share my love with you through song?" Stevie Wonder Returns, Finally
June 3, 2005 - Stevie Wonder is back with his first studio release in 10 years. "A Time to Love" includes the track titled " What the Fuss", which will be the first single. The track features Prince on guitar, and back up vocals form En Vogue. Referring to the world's troubled times, Wonder elaborates on the title by saying that, "More than ever we need a time to love." - By Cheryl Philips

New Stevie Wonder Album Due in June
May 6, 2004 - Stevie Wonder released fourteen albums in the sixties, ten albums in the seventies, only four in the eighties and three in the nineties so his pace as of late has slowed considerable. Wonder has not released a CD of all new music since 1995's 'Conversation Peace.' Needless to say Wonder fans are hungry. His new album 'A Time 2 Love,' will be released on June 8 on the label that made him famous, Motown. Wonder who usually stays out of the public eye will be making the rounds to promote the new album including talks with Oprah and is scheduled to appear on ABC's "Good Morning America." Two days after the release of the album Wonder will be presented with the Johnny Mercer Award by the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame, for the "high quality and impact" of his body of work. His last album 'Conversation Peace' debuted at No. 16 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 366,000 copies in the United States

 

Steve Wonder Helps Convicted Drug Dealer
September 24, 2003 - Motown music legend Stevie Wonder is trying to help out a friend who also happens to be convicted of running a major drug ring. Wonder has asked a federal judge to allow Antonio Ameen to remain free on bail pending his appeal. Ameen was sentenced to 20 years in prison and claims he was denied a fair trial because of a race bias. Wonder and Ameen became friends after Ameen became a musician and producer in Los Angeles. Wonder has not released an album of new material since 1995's "Conversation Peace." In May of this year Wonder joined the VH1 Divas on stage. Joining Wonder were Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Lisa Marie Presley, Mary J.
