Yes to Tour Without Jon Anderson Again
Febuary 11, 2011 – Yes is going on tour in March but without Jon Anderson, again. The mini-tour of smaller intimate performances will kick off in March.
This new version of Yes featuring Canadian lead singer, Benoit David, on lead vocals started in 2008 when the band was shortly known as "Howe, Squire, and White of Yes," Then, the band was not very clear on Anderson's status in the group until the lead singer stated on his website that he felt, "disappointed" and "disrespected" by the band going on without him while he was sick. He later took down the quote while Chris Squire said that Anderson gave the band his “Blessings.” The legendary singer then (2010) went on tour with former Yes keyboarist Rick Wakement
In 2009 Squire confirmed in a radio interview that Oliver Wakeman, Rick's son, and David were now official members of Yes. – by John Beaudin

Yes and Asia Set for Summer Tour Together
April 17, 2009 – Yes and Asia founding member Steve Howe must be in great shape because he’ll be doing double duty this summer with the announcement that both of his bands will be touring together.
The 24 city U.S. tour is huge news for Progressive Rock fans. The only downer, and it’s a big one, is Jon Anderson, the original and only, lead singer of Yes will, again, be replaced by Canadian vocalist Benoit David. The guy has great pipes but he’s no Jon Anderson. Meanwhile it’s a waiting game for Anderson, who is still dealing with severe asthma problems. The other members say he will always be welcomed back.
The Yes lineup includes David on lead vocals, Howe on guitar, bassist Chris Squire, drummer Alan White and keyboardist Oliver Wakeman, he’s Rick Wakeman`s son.
The tour kicks off at Fantasy Springs Casino, June 26th in Indio California and ends on Aug. 2nd at Muskfest in Bethlehem, PA.
Asia’s line-up includes all original members, Howe on guitar, keyboardist Geoff Downes, who also spent time in the band Yes and the Buggles, Carl Palmer on Drums (former Emerson Lake and Palmer) and former King Crimson and UK bassist/guitarist/vocalist John Wetton.
Here’s hoping Howe doesn’t have a heart attack or fall over from exhaustion! He says, "This is a monumental event and even though it will be a challenge, I am up for it." Check out the tour dates below. – by John Beaudin

Yes Says Jon Anderson Still in the Band
Oct. 10, 2008 – When your band goes out on the road without you it can be a little disconcerting. So much so that Jon Anderson posted a note on his website expressing his disappointment with his Yes band mates' decision. Anderson’s asthma forced the band to cancel their 40th anniversary summer tour and it looks like they were sick of waiting around. The question is, can it be Yes without Jon Anderson? Bassist Chris Squire says Anderson is still very much in the group and they plan to continue with him in the line-up when he gets better. Replacing the legendary singer is Benoit David (not to be confused with Smooth Jazz pianist David Benoit) of Montreal. David was spotted by the guys in Yes via Youtube in his Yes cover band Close to the Edge.
Yes have not toured since 2004. The current line up for the band consists of Squire, David, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White and Rick Wakeman's son Oliver on keyboards. Squire says the band will get together this month to rehearse and the tour starts Nov. 4 in Hamilton Ontario.
Squire told Billboard he’s also working with former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett on a project that sound a lot like Crosby, Stills & Nash. He joked saying they may call themselves Squackett! That album will be released in 2009 with a tour to follow.
Some, possible all of the upcoming Yes shows could be available for download after the fact says Squire. – by John Beaudin

Yes to Tour Without Jon Anderson? Again?
Sept. 17, 2008 – In a perfect world Styx would just call Dennis DeYoung up and say “ok, you’re the real lead singer, come on back please.” Maybe the boys in Journey could do the same with Steve Perry but that’s probably not going to happen. Now word that “Yes” are planning their next tour without singer Jon Anderson. Bassist Chris Squire says they’ve chosen Montreal singer Benoit David to sing on their ‘In the Present” tour. The band member actually discovered David on You Tube doing “Yes” covers. "I think it's all going to work out fine," Squire told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Of course, realistically, there's an element of risk, but there always is." Remember when Trevor Horn replaced Anderson in 1980? That was awesome – not! Squire says, "You can't ever really replace Jon Anderson, because he's been such a force in the music business," Squire said. "We look upon his replacement as more of an understudy." Anderson had to take time off after suffering acute respiratory failure. The band says they hope Anderson a quick recovery and plan to have him back in the fold within the year. – By John Beaudin

YES Cancels 40th Anniversary Tour
June 6, 2008 -
NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 4, 2008 -– Legendary rock band YES announced today that the group will unfortunately be canceling their 2008 40th Anniversary Tour. The 26-city tour was scheduled to kick off in Quebec next month and run through the summer.Said Jon Anderson, “In the wake of my recent respiratory attack, doctors have advised me to spend the coming months resting and recovering. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to tour with Yes this summer as originally planned. I'd like everyone know how deeply disappointed I am by this turn of events. I was looking forward to celebrating our music with the amazing family of Yes fans once again; but as we all know, health must come before anything else. Wishing you all the very best...”Said Chris Squire, “We were all looking forward to performing for our fans after a prolonged leave of absence from touring. I am especially regretful of the fact that I know many of our fans and friends have probably laid out non-refundable airfares and hotels, etc. in order to enjoy the Yes shows this summer. Please join me in wishing Jon a speedy return to health, which at this point in time is our main concern.”Yes frontman and founding member Jon Anderson was admitted to the hospital last month after suffering a severe asthma attack. He has now been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure and was told by doctors this weekend that he needs to rest and not work for a period of at least six months or suffer further health complications. Upon receiving this news the band has determined that their tour plans need to be put on hold. - by John Beaudin

Yes Ready for Anniversary Tour and “Very Different” New Music
May 7, 2008 – After talking to Yes lead singer, Jon Anderson, it’s easy to get confused on the future of the super-group. The group is geared up for their 40th anniversary summer tour and Anderson told Billboard magazine the new music will sound like the big “opus” sound reminiscent of classics like “Close to the Edge” and “Tales From Topographic Oceans." "They're very, very different," Anderson says. "It'll be interesting when we perform them, because we know that we want to try and perform them in a unique fashion."
However, Anderson says he’s still not sure if these songs will ever wind up on an album, "Putting together a large piece of music or something that is really a jump in a musical direction takes a lot of commitment from everybody.... But maybe during the tour we will discuss making some new music." There are more possibilities for the band Anderson says there are also talks to bring the 80’s incarnation of the group back on the road. He’s talked to Trevor Rabin, the guitarist and co-producer of the “Owner of a Lonely Heart” period and says it may not be an official 80’s Yes reunion, "I wouldn't do it, like, Yes," Anderson explains. "I'd do it like me and Trevor aspiring to be the two of us making music and see what we come up with.” Yes’ last studio album was 2001’s “Magnification.” The Yes anniversary tour kicks off July 12 at the Festival d'ete de Quebec in Quebec City. – by John Beaudin
